About The DIGIT Centre

The Aarhus University Centre for Digitalisation, Big Data and Data Analytics (DIGIT) targets significantly strengthening Aarhus University (AU) in its research abilities in the area of digitalisation. The main disruption happening to the societies all over the world are driven by new innovations amenable to novel IT-based solutions. Thus, it is of utmost importance to be able to master how both the private and public sectors need to change their way of conducting the business in an optimal fashion.


The vision of DIGIT is to carry out excellent cross-disciplinary research to provide a recognised contribution to the worldwide digital transformation of society to the benefit of mankind.

The centre is founded on internationally known research groups at Aarhus University and, jointly, these and new research groups will form a Danish flagship that will become one of the leading centres internationality in the area of cross-disciplinary research for digitalisation.


The mission of the centre is to significantly strengthen the Aarhus University/Science and Technology position in the general area of digitalisation, both nationally as well as internationally.

Initially, the centre will involve research groups at three departments (Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science), but it is envisaged that groups from more departments will join later.
